Join us Friday 12th June for our second live stream, part of our Plugged IN series of events to enjoy from the comfort of your own home! It kicks-off 8pm UK time on our Facebook page.

MIEKO SHIMIZU
Mieko Shimizu is a prolific London-based Japanese singer, songwriter, composer and producer.  An acclaimed electronic artist, her career has seen her signed to the personal label of Hosono Haruomi of Yellow Magic Orchestra fame and collaborations with Mick Karn of the seminal UK band Japan, she’s performed at Sonar, Meltdown (sharing the stage with Kraftwerk and Massive Attack) and held a residency at London’s Southbank Centre.  Amalgamating haunting melodies with challenging modular-synth-laden landscapes, her latest album ‘I Bloom‘ has equal moments of sparsely instrumental beauty as it does musical entropy, with layers and rhythms clashing and colliding in polyphonic harmony.

OBSCENITY STATE
Passion, blood ties and cultural complexity drove the cinematic vision behind Nilly Brook’s Obscenity State. Driven by her experience growing up in a family torn by the Iranian revolution, Nilly became hyper-aware of the corruption of power in its various forms. Seeking clarity, she immersed herself in world politics, art, animation and music through her studies at Central Saint Martins and the School of Oriental and African Studies. Poetically transcending the ages, Obscenity State transfixes listeners with her unique blend of electronica, post-punk sonics, twisting female vocals and intense dance rhythms.
